Twenty-five humorous and romantic handwritten letters (WW2) to Dorothy Whitehead from various Canadian and Australian Army & Navy personnel whom she had met in her role as Organising Secretary at the Allied Forces Centre in Oxford. The letters are from various postings (mainly UK) following on from their time in Oxford. After the war Dorothy (now Bednarowska) was one of the most influential academics of her generation at St Anne's College, Oxford

Forty-four letters (1941-1947) from Akbar Hydari of India to Richard L. Whitehead in the UK. Interesting and amusing anecdotes of their time as Oxford students, and comments about life in India during WW2 and the Partition. Akbar was the son of Sir Muhammad Saleh Akbar Hydari, a prominent Indian politician and Governor of Assam. Akbar worked for The Western Indian Match Company and became Chairman in 1964.
